Hi, I'm Adnan Mardini
|
I build secure applications, strengthen enterprise systems, and help organizations detect, investigate, and defend against evolving cyber threats. My experience spans security engineering, security operations, secure software development, and enterprise infrastructure, with a growing focus on AI-driven cybersecurity.
01. About Me
I'm a Cybersecurity Engineer who enjoys building things that hold up under pressure, from secure applications and detection engineering to enterprise infrastructure. My path into cybersecurity didn't start in penetration testing or security engineering. It started in enterprise IT, where I learned how organizations really operate, how systems fail, and why effective security has to support the business rather than slow it down.
At Expadox Labs, I work on secure API development, detection engineering, threat modeling, and AI-assisted threat detection as a Cybersecurity Engineer. Alongside that, I serve as Cybersecurity Lead at the Inventors Community, where I contribute to security operations, vulnerability assessments, incident response, and mentoring aspiring cybersecurity professionals through hands-on learning.
My journey began in enterprise IT at Fidson Healthcare Plc, supporting Windows Server, Active Directory, networking, and enterprise infrastructure. That experience gave me a practical understanding of how production environments operate and the challenges teams face every day. I've since returned to Fidson in an IT Infrastructure & Information Security role, where I help strengthen infrastructure security, deploy security monitoring solutions, and support enterprise operations.
I enjoy combining engineering, defensive security, and automation to build solutions that are secure, practical, and maintainable. Whether it's developing secure applications, improving threat visibility, or strengthening enterprise infrastructure, my focus is always on solving real security problems and helping organizations build resilient systems.
02. Areas of Expertise
I build secure systems and help organizations detect, respond to, and defend against modern cyber threats
Security Engineering
Secure Software | Penetration Testing | Application Security
-
Secure Application Development Design and develop secure applications and REST APIs by applying secure coding practices, authentication, authorization, and API security principles.
-
Application Security Perform vulnerability assessments and web application security testing to identify and validate security weaknesses, including SQL Injection, XSS, and authentication vulnerabilities.
-
Security Engineering Design security into applications through threat modeling, secure architecture, detection engineering, and automation to reduce risk throughout the development lifecycle.
-
Automation Develop practical security solutions using Python while integrating modern security tools to improve efficiency, visibility, and resilience.
Security Operations
Threat Detection | Incident Response | Security Monitoring
-
Security Monitoring Monitor and investigate security events using SIEM platforms, analyze alerts, and support incident response through structured investigation and documentation.
-
Threat Detection Improve visibility across enterprise environments by leveraging Wazuh, Zeek, Suricata, AWS CloudTrail, and centralized log analysis.
-
Vulnerability Management Conduct vulnerability assessments, validate findings, and support remediation efforts to strengthen organizational security.
-
Enterprise Infrastructure Apply hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, networking, and enterprise systems because securing an environment starts with understanding how it actually runs.
The Connection
Security engineering and security operations aren't separate disciplines. They complement one another. Building a secure system is only half the job; understanding how that system is monitored, tested, and defended in production is what turns good engineering into practical security. That's the perspective I bring to every project, building solutions that are secure, resilient, and ready for real-world environments.
